Captain's Knock.....Easy!

Since in Mauritius, the son of Parade Leader had 9 starts for 4 wins, 4 seconds and 1 third - says it all, we believe.

Previously, in 2009, he blessed the stable with the following commendable performances:

1. A Group 1 win in the Duke of York Cup

2. A Group 3 win in the MTC 175th Anniversary Cup

3. A second place in a Group 1 race - The Maiden Cup (beaten by a whisker)

4. A second place in a Group 1 race - The Mauritius Derby

5. A second place in a Group 2 race - The Coupe de la Cent-cinquantenaire Cup

4. A third place in a Group 2 race - The Duchess of York Cup

We still believe he was unlucky last year and could have done better. He was supposed to run the Barbe Cup, another Group 1 race and was favourite to win the race - but circumstances did not allow.

Hence, participation in 6 group races in Mauritius and always been there at the finish - is Captain's Knock.

Last Saturday, with Shane on board, he did not deceive us, and bookmakers rightly placed him as the hot favourite, despite carrying 60kg, discharging 8.5 kg to last year's Maiden Winner, Solar Symbol, a well respected horse. He started this season on 1400m after a 6 months break and did very well to finish second to the winner by less than 0.30 L.

Captain's Knock highlight was his win in his first Group race and thereafter, winning the Group 1 Gold Cup, one of the, if not the most, conveted classic and important race in the Mauritius racing calender. He finished second in the Maiden Cup, losing by a whisker, 0.02L, the most prestigous Group 1 race in Mauritius.

Captain's Knock is one of the best horse running in Mauritius.
